Sketchbook.

Started a new project to create a 'shirt' to go in an exibition called 'Best of British', we started looking into a few different eras... 60s,70s,and 80s and things that were popular in britain that inspired us to create designs. I looked at the different fashions, prints, icons and phases of those decades. I chose to look in more detail at the 70s, and to look at the rock band Queen but to mix that with the flared outfits and glitter crazy of the disco scene.
Here are few pages of my research and the designs that I have created from this...

I continued to develop my illustrations so that they fit with my theme and customer. To find inspiration I looked into other illustrators such as Irana Ivanova and Barbara Hulanicki in each of them i loved an idividual thing and it helped me illustate in a different style. I then tried to add different things to them link them with my era, such as rollar blade wedges and i used the Queen logo for a extravigant hat, im going to continue developing but this is what i have done so far.

Further Designs

I have been continuing to develop my illustrations by drawing them in a larger form so they can be cut out and put on design boards.

Final Design
This is my final design which i have chosen to make, I'm still unsure on my illustration format and might be re-drawing these so they look neater.

first toile...
Over the last few days I have been drafting my first toile of my shirt, its been really frustrating because I cleverly decided to make it out of latex material which wont sew on a sewing machine and i had to put it all together on the overlocker. But despite all that I thought it came together really well. Here are a few images of my development.

I have finally put together my toile sleeve......

Im really happy with how this turned out, I thought it would be more difficult to put together as I'm having to put it all together on the over locker, as I am using stretching/lycra fabric, and there was a lot of layers but it came together quite easily.

I have now gone on to start some of my promotional material for my project, I have created some designs for packaging and swing tags. I have decided for packaging i am going to use some of the extra fabric i bought for my shirt to create a bag that my shirt would go in.

This is the final product of my packaging bag, I am going to also create a packaging box and other material.

Here is my swing tag and sample envelope that I have made myself and designed. I have used my logo and print to make sure it fits with my theme. In my sample envelope Im going to have a spar button and thread to add a little bit mote luxury to my garment.

This week I have been focusing on getting my specification drawing done so then I can finish my six design boards. I finally got all 12 specs done but I'm now sick of the sight of them. haha. Glad I've got them out of the way.

Now finally i have got all my design boards finished, and I can concentrate on finishing my final garment, tech file and finish the last bits of my marketing and promotion. Here is the finished product of my design boards. I am really happy with them, after changing my mind 3 times on how I want them, as usual I have gone with the first idea I had, typical me.

My final shirt...
I am really pleased with how my shirt has turned out, after stressing that it wouldn't be finished i've finally done it!!
